Railway Pro Investment Summit Bucharest 11/12 October 2016
Railway Po held its annual Investment Summit in Bucharest from 11/12 October with the theme of "Railway Business Opportunities in the Single European Transport Market". The event was attended by over 271 representatives from various bodies including politicians, railways and research institutions. The DESTinationRAIL project was invited to give 2 presentations, the first on progress with the project was given by Michael Robson and second on Traffic Management as part of the decision support tool was given by Andreas Schobel.
The 2 presentations were well received and led to a number of discussion during the conference with the Marius Chiper, General Manager of CFR SA and Jean Nicolas Head of International Affairs for CFR SA who, following on from our meeting in February, were interested in the use of GPR as a way of reducing costs. Lorenzo Casullo from the OECD and Francesco Dionori from UNECE who were also interested in the cost reduction and work on improving performance which is being carried out e.g. hot spot detection. Finally Kenji Murasaki, Deputy Director of the East Japan Railway Brussels office, was interested in having a discussion with his team in Brussels which I will try to arrange for a time when we are already in Brussels.
The conference also generated new contacts with the project being invited to give a presention at the Railway Pro Technology and Services Forum which will be held in Arad on 5/6 April 2017.
